It took awhile to find the little noisemaker this morning. But there he was, perched high above the earth, on the power pole that holds our transformer.
Its a Downy Woodpecker, complete with the pretty red stripe on his head.
Some mornings he chooses to pick grubs out of the wood siding on our house and usually its the same morning we would love to have slept in.
One interesting thing about this bird?
Woodpeckers don't need something to land 'on'. They just need something to land 'against'.
